Principal Cities North America at Buro Happold

Adam Friedberg leads Buro Happold’s Cities Team in North America, which is made up of nearly two dozen economists, planners, engineers, resiliency and sustainability experts, social scientists and real estate specialists.

Adam has led some of the most progressive planning efforts in North America, including the first-ever Los Angeles Countywide Sustainability Plan, which included more than 10 million constituents and 4,000 square miles of land, as well as New York City’s 1.5 Degrees Climate Action Plan, the first Paris Agreement-compatible climate action plan in the world.

With a background in environmental engineering, he has spent close to two decades consulting for private, public and not-for-profit clients around the world. His work includes implementing innovative sustainable and resilience planning and policies at the organizational and governance level, and design and ongoing maintenance strategies for buildings, infrastructure and urban and suburban planning projects. He is licensed Professional Engineer and earned his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
