Marina Novaes is a seasoned professional in human rights advocacy, currently serving as Brazil Researcher & Representative at the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre since March 2020. Concurrently, Marina works as a specialist in Forced Labor, Human Trafficking, and Migrations. Previously, Marina held the position of Programme Manager at Instituto C&A, overseeing initiatives against forced and child labor in the Brazilian apparel sector. Marina's experience includes serving as an advisor to São Paulo City Councillor Eduardo Suplicy and as a Special Advisor at the Municipal Secretariat of Human Rights and Citizenship, where Marina played a key role in developing public policies to combat slavery and human trafficking, including the establishment and presidency of the Municipal Commission for the Eradication of Slavery. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Social History and Oral History from the University of São Paulo and a Bachelor's degree in Law with a focus on human rights from Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo.
