Sony Sung-Chu

Svp, Head Of Science & Innovation at Businessolver

Sony Sung-Chu has a diverse work experience in various companies and roles. Starting in 2006, they worked as a Project Lead at Comrise, where they trained and managed recruiters remotely. In 2007, they joined Vitech Systems Group as a Solutions Analyst and were responsible for defining and documenting requirements for application development. At Principal Financial Group, they served as a Lead Business Analyst for HR Business Applications. In 2010, they joined Businessolver as a Process Excellence Analyst, and later became the Director of Process Excellence and Applied Data Science, where they applied mathematical methods to improve systems and founded implementation and data science teams. They also worked at Iowa State University as a Graduate Student Research Assistant in Physics and Astronomy. In 2015, they joined Amazon as a Manager of Kindle Direct Publishing Business Intelligence, where they built machine learning applications and managed a team. Sony Sung-Chu returned to Businessolver in 2016 as the VP and Head of Applied Data Science and later became the SVP and Head of Science & Innovation. In 2019, they joined Amazon again as a Senior Manager of Product and Analytics for Amazon Global Logistics.

Sony Sung-Chu obtained a Master's Degree in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Iowa State University, where they studied from 2010 to 2012. Prior to this, Sony Sung-Chu earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Iowa State University - College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, completing their studies from 2001 to 2003. Additionally, Sony Sung-Chu obtained a certification in "Generative AI with Large Language Models" from Coursera in July 2023.
