Sean Johnston has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Sean began their career as an Economist at Fujita Corporation, where they worked for six years before transitioning into the role of Business Manager for the South Pacific region. In 2003, Sean spent a brief period as an International Business Intern at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Sean then joined Halliburton as a Principal Market and Business Analyst in 2004.

In the same year, Sean also started working at KBR, Inc. where they held various roles, including Manager of Sales Administration, Senior Manager of Financial Oversight/Strategic Planning, Director of Anti-Corruption Audit Services, and Business Unit Controller for Downstream. Sean stayed with KBR, Inc. for ten years.

In 2014, Sean joined IHI E&C International Corporation as the Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Board Director. Here, they led all financial, accounting, tax, audit, and treasury operations for the subsidiary of a publicly traded Japanese industrial company. Sean implemented the Deltek Vision ERP system and provided visible leadership through town hall presentations and engagement sessions.

From 2016 to 2018, Sean served as the Chief Financial Officer at Moretrench, a specialty geotechnical and industrial services company. Sean led all finance, accounting, tax, audit, payroll, treasury, and IT operations. Sean partnered with the CEO to develop the company's external market strategy and initiated process modernization efforts to drive growth.

Currently, Sean holds the position of Chief Financial Officer at Butler-Cohen Design + Build, where they have been since 2018.

Sean Johnston attended O'Neill Collegiate for high school, although the dates are not provided. From 1987 to 1991, they pursued a bachelor's degree in economics at Brock University. Sean then went on to obtain a Master of Arts degree in International Finance from both The Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) between 2002 and 2004. Later, they completed the CII Executive Leadership Program at The University of Texas at Austin, although the start year is not specified and the program lasted until 2016.
