Jonathan Shapiro

Jonathan Shapiro has had a long and successful career in the technology industry. Jonathan began their professional career in 1986 as a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories, where they worked on a distributed, multi-architecture, multi-interface debugger. In 1989, they joined Silicon Graphics, Inc. as a Member of Technical Staff, where they worked on the SGI ProDev tools suite. In 1990, they co-founded HAL Computer Systems, where they were Manager of Software Design and part of the original deal-making team with Fujitsu. In 1991, they joined Xanadu Operating Company as a consultant to document and cohere their information architecture. In 1998, they joined IBM T.J. Watson Research Center as a Research Staff Member. In 2001, they became Managing Partner of The EROS Group, LLC, where they developed Coyotos, a commercial successor to the EROS Operating System. In 2015, they became Managing Partner of AetherMagic, LLC, a startup seeking to reinvent how recording studios and live performances are managed. Finally, in 2016, they joined Buttonsmith Inc. as President and COO. In their roles at Buttonsmith, they played a key role in the 2021 equity raise, managed the search and qualification process for new facilities, and transitioned custom manufacturing operations to lean production methods.

Jonathan Shapiro obtained a B.S. in Computer Science from Haverford College between 1982 and 1986. Jonathan then pursued an M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University between 1988 and 1989. Finally, they obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania between 1993 and 1999.
