Thomas Nelson has worked in various roles in the business industry since 1988. In 1993, they became President/General Manager of BTI Inc. From 1988 to 1993, they were President/General Manager of RocEdge Corporation. In 1995, they began working at Cortec Corp as Senior Product Manager/Brand Manager, where they managed North American sales and international sales in over 20 countries. In 2001, they became Vice President of Industrial Crating/Foldy Pac, where they developed and launched a line of environmental protective covers. From 2004 to 2015, they were General Manager/Chief Operating Officer/Founder of Shield Technologies Corporation, where they founded, built and directed day-to-day business operations. In 2015, they became CEO of Aerospace Welding and Manufacturing (A.W.I./A.M.I.), where they were responsible for all operations, sales, business development and financial areas. In 2020, they took on the role of COO of BWR Innovations LLC, where they developed the Sol Source Powerhouse microgrid for residential and industrial use. In 2019, they co-founded Safer Plate, a company focused on meal kits and ready to eat meals for people and family with food allergies. In 2021, they became Founder/Managing Partner of Paradigm Growth LLC, where they developed the American Supply Chain Resiliency Matrix.

Thomas Nelson completed their MBA at the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Business in 1980. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota in 1976.
