Roald Bankras

Director Of System Architecture at Bynder

Roald Bankras has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Starting in 2008, they worked as an Architect for Pronk Juweel, where they designed and developed a website. In 2010, Roald founded their own company, Kretar, and also worked as a Java/JEE Consultant for The Future Group. During this time, they also worked as a Trainer at JTeam and a Consulting Java Developer at Backbase. In 2012, Roald co-founded Maltbook, a personalized whisky guide app. Roald then transitioned to work as a Java Consultant for ANWB, where they participated in maintaining their call center application and introduced Scrum methodology. Roald later joined DoubleDutch as a Software Engineer, building a new team in the Netherlands to support their rapid growth. Roald also worked as a Freelance Java Consultant for MYLAPS Sports Timing, contributing to the reconstruction of their data management system. In 2018, Roald became a Mobile App Developer at NN, and in 2019, they joined Uber as a Software Architect & Engineer. Currently, Roald is working as the Director of Engineering at Bynder, a company that provides a central hub for managing creative files.

Roald Bankras holds an MBA in Business and IT with a specialization in Change Management and Organizational Development from Nyenrode Business University, which they obtained from 2022 to 2023. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Amsterdam from 1999 to 2003. Earlier in their education, they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences from 1995 to 1999. Roald Bankras also completed their HAVO diploma with a focus on Dutch, English, Math B, Physics, Chemistry, and Business Economics at Oscar Romero from 1990 to 1995. In addition to their academic pursuits, they have obtained several certifications, including Level 1: Feature Flagging Foundations from Split in August 2022, CQRS & Event Sourcing from Lightbend, Inc. in May 2020, R Programming from Coursera in March 2015, and MongoDB for Developers from 10gen in December 2012.
