Dan Winand

Senior Director, CMC Project Management at Cabaletta Bio

Dan Winand has over 30 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Dan began their career in 1988 as a Process Engineer at Raytheon Engineers and Constructors. In 1993, they joined Life Sciences International as a Senior Process Engineer/Project Engineer, where they managed the technical design for a $25 million cell culture pilot plant. In 2000, they moved to CDI Engineering Group as a Lead Process/Senior Project Engineer, where they managed the technical design of a $70 million clinical manufacturing facility. In 2004, they joined Washington Group International as a Senior Process Engineer, performing small onsite engineering projects for sanofi pasteur. In 2005, they joined TENGION, INC as Manager of Engineering, managing the design, construction, and start-up of a $18 million corporate headquarters and manufacturing center. In 2010, they moved to Shire Pharmaceuticals as Associate Director, Program Management, managing the commercial CMC team and the integration planning for a $4 billion acquisition. In 2015, they joined Spark Therapeutics, Inc. as a CMC Project Manager. In 2017, they moved to Adaptimmune US as Associate Director, Project Management, providing program management oversight for the CMC pivotal readiness initiative. In 2018, they joined Tmunity Therapeutics Incorporated as Director, Technical Operations and Manufacturing Program Management, leading the cGMP readiness effort for vector manufacturing and cell manufacturing. In 2021, they joined Cabaletta Bio as Senior Director, Technical Operations and Director, CMC Project Management, providing oversight to cell, vector, and plasmid CDMOs.

Dan Winand has an extensive educational history. Dan obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University in 1989, followed by an MBA in General and Strategic Management from the Fox School of Business at Temple University in 1998. Dan then went on to obtain a Certificate in Supply Chain Management 1 from Michigan State University in 2013, followed by a Certificate in Supply Chain Management 2 from the same institution in 2014. In 2015, they obtained a Postgraduate Course in Clinical Pharmacology, Drug Development, and Regulation Certificate from Tufts University and a Certificate in Principles and Practices of Gene Therapy from Stanford Continuing Studies. Dan also obtained Certificates in Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Six Sigma, and a Masters Certificate in Six Sigma from Villanova University in 2011. In addition to their educational history, Dan Winand also holds certifications as a Professional Engineer from the State of Pennsylvania (2011), a Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute (2009), and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Villanova University (2012).
