Brian Pevear

Brian Pevear has a long history of work experience in the tech industry. Brian began their career in 1999 as a Principal Engineer at Microchip/PowerSmart Systems, where they designed various "smart battery" systems for vehicles, UPS, telecom and portables. In 2005, they moved to Cole Hersee Company as a Sr. Electrical Engineer, where they designed electronic power product line using microprocessors and power MOSFETs, as well as battery management products for heavy-duty trucking, buses, construction, marine and industrial vehicles. In 2008, they joined A123 Systems as a Sr. Electrical Engineer, before moving to Radiant Power Corp - A HEICO Company in 2011, where they developed DC backup power supply systems and power distribution systems for aircraft. In 2013, they began working at QuantumScape as a Principal Member of Technical Staff, where they developed battery systems for battery electric vehicles (BEV) for next-gen Li-ion batteries. In 2015, they joined Proterra Inc as the Director, Battery Systems and Applications, where they had both engineering and management responsibilities. Brian's key engineering responsibility was to lead the development of the battery management system for the custom high voltage battery pack. Finally, in 2018, they co-founded Caban Systems, where they serve as the CTO.

Brian Pevear obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo between 1996 and 1999. Brian also holds an Automotive Functional Safety Professional (AFSP) certification.
