Principal Executive - Investment Portfolio Management For Productive Sectors at CAF

Román Vélez Gimón has a diverse work experience spanning across various industries. Román began their career at Procter & Gamble as a Project Engineer, where they successfully coordinated construction projects and implemented cost-saving measures. Román then moved on to BP, where they served as a Commercial Analyst and later as an HR Coordinator, responsible for financial reporting and automating HR processes.

Following their time at BP, Román joined ConocoPhillips as an SAP Project Coordinator, where they optimized and implemented HR processes using SAP. Román played a crucial role in developing the implementation plan, designing new processes, and training users.

After their tenure at ConocoPhillips, Román worked at Arthur D. Little as a Management Consultant, leading cases related to strategy and organization practices. Román also participated in a project to develop a long-term energy supply planning model for the National Hydrocarbons Agency in Colombia.

Román's next role was at Citibank, where they served as a VP and Cluster Head in the Corporate Bank division. Román was responsible for managing key accounts in various industries, including Branded Consumer, Telecom, Media, and Energy. Román provided financial advice, managed treasury and cash management products, and facilitated corporate finance deals.

Prior to their current position, Román worked at Kapital Consultores as a Senior Consultant and Investment Advisor. Their responsibilities included structuring investment portfolios, evaluating diversified strategies in financial markets, and providing investment ideas and strategies to clients.

Currently, Román is serving as a Principal Executive in Investment Portfolio Management for Productive Sectors at CAF - banco de desarrollo de América Latina.

Román Vélez Gimón obtained a Master of Science in Management from the Arthur D. Little School of Management in 1997, after completing their bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidad Simón Bolívar in 1993.
