Lead Mechanical Commissioning at CAI

Luis Rodriguez has a diverse work experience across various companies and roles. Luis started their career in the US Navy as a Hull Maintenance Technician, where they performed maintenance on auxiliary, mechanical, and damage control equipment. Luis also volunteered for boarding missions and served as a search and rescue swimmer during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

After their military service, Rodriguez worked as a Service Technician and Commissioning Agent at Dynamic Systems, Inc. from March 2006 to November 2009. Luis then joined Mechanical Reps, Inc. as a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer, where they focused on new equipment commissioning and provided owners with training on commissioned equipment, as well as recommendations for energy conservation and efficiency.

Rodriguez's next role was as a Critical Facility Engineer at CyrusOne San Antonio Data Center from February 2012 to June 2016. Here, they were responsible for maintaining electrical and mechanical systems, training employees on HVAC and building automation concepts, and ensuring the smooth operation of a 4000-ton chiller plant and 12 MW electrical distribution.

From June 2016 to August 2020, Rodriguez worked at CBRE as a Lead Facility Manager. In this role, they led a team of eight engineers, oversaw data center operations, and ensured infrastructure compliance with established standards. Luis also spearheaded an in-house repair initiative that resulted in significant cost savings.

Most recently, Rodriguez has been employed at CAI since April 2022 as a Data Center Commissioning Agent. Their responsibilities include executing standard building commissioning processes for new and existing construction, covering various building components such as mechanical, plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting, and specialty systems.

Throughout their career, Rodriguez has consistently demonstrated leadership skills, technical proficiency, and dedication to customer satisfaction in the data center and critical facilities industry.

Luis Rodriguez has a strong educational background in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Luis obtained an Associate of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Palo Alto College. Later, in 2023, they pursued further education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they received a certificate in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering.

In addition to their formal education, Luis has also obtained several certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. Luis acquired a LEED Green Associate certification from the US GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL in December 2022. Furthermore, they completed the Project Management Foundations course in 2019 through LinkedIn and obtained a Datacenter CDPT certification from CNet Training in May 2020. These certifications demonstrate their commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
