Ross Thomas

Interpretive Officer at Cairns Regional Council

Ross Thomas has extensive experience in horticulture and botanic management, currently serving as an Interpretive Officer and Supervisor of Botanic Areas at Cairns Regional Council since September 2019. Prior to this, Ross held various roles including Senior Nursery Horticulturist and Curator of Botanic Areas in acting positions. With a background in both landscaping and operational management in botanic gardens, Ross worked at Greenline Landscapes as a Field Leader and Botanic Gardens Operations Horticulturist from 2009 to 2019, and as a Landscaper at Stonecraft Landscapes from 2006 to 2008. Additionally, Ross has experience with the Queensland Fisheries Service and served as a Research Assistant at James Cook University. Ross holds degrees in Biology/Biological Sciences from James Cook University and UNSW, along with certificates in Ornamental Horticulture and Horticulture (Landscape) from the Royal Horticultural Society and TAFE NSW, respectively.
