Maik Lutze

Chief Design Officer at Cake DeFi

Maik Lutze has extensive work experience in the field of design and user experience.

From 2022 onwards, Maik has been serving as the VP of Product Design at Cake DeFi.

Prior to this, they worked at EQONEX Group [Nasdaq: EQOS] as the Head of Customer Experience and Design from 2021 to 2022. In this role, Maik led a virtual team to design and improve the user experience of the group's global digital assets trading platform and digital asset custody DIGIVAULT.

Before that, Maik held the position of Global Head of Design and User Experience, CCIB at Standard Chartered Bank from 2020 to 2021.

From 2015 to 2020, Maik worked at Citi, where they initially served as the Head of Design APAC&EMEA. In this role, they led a design department to create a new and unified digital customer experience for 11 million customers across 14 markets, resulting in significant business successes. Maik later transitioned to the role of Experience Design Lead APAC&EMEA.

In 2014 and 2015, Maik worked as the Executive Creative Director Digital at Proximity and BBDO Singapore, where they established a new digital-focused APAC innovation team and helped shift the agency towards more digital output.

From 2008 to 2014, Maik served as the Executive Creative Director at Interone China, where they led creative projects.

Prior to that, they worked as an Associate Creative Director at Kolle Rebbe GmbH in 2008.

In 2006, Maik worked at Interone as an Associate Creative Director & RIA Developer, where they played a key role in creating the BMW.com web experience.

From 2001 to 2006, Maik owned 17eleven and worked as the Creative Director.

Earlier in their career, from 1999 to 2001, they worked as an Art Director at LAVA/iXL/Skillberry, where they ventured into the digital field before Google existed and AOL was the means to go online. During this time, they worked on groundbreaking projects such as launching the first online shopping platform in the country and designing website, display ads, and Flash applications for various clients.

Maik Lutze obtained a Diploma in Communications Design from the Institute of Design Hamburg, where they studied from 1996 to 2000. In addition to their formal education, they have acquired several certifications. These include a Decentralized Finance certification from Duke University, obtained in September 2022, a UX certificate from Nielsen Norman Group obtained in January 2019, and a Design Thinking trainer certification from IDEO obtained in February 2016.
