Dany Breton has been the superintendent of facilities and environmental services at the Calgary Board of Education since September 2014. Prior to that, they were a strategic planner at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) from April 2014 to September 2014, selected as one of only 20 strategic planners following the illegal annexation of Crimea. While at SHAPE, they elaborated engineering, logistic, movement, admin and medical support aspects of strategic defence plans and guided 40+ senior international officers in the elaboration of strategic contingency plans for the defence of NATO's eastern flank in time for the Wales Summit (4-5 September 2014).
From March 2004 to October 2004, Breton was the officer commanding engineer support unit for Task Force Bosnia Herzegovina. In this role, they ensured maintenance and construction of Canadian Armed Forces camps and initiated and orchestrated Canadian Armed Forces camp closures during ongoing stabilization operations. Dany also forward deployed to Afghanistan in June 2004 to help establish contracted support to Canada's contribution to the NATO International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
Dany Breton attended the Royal Military College of Canada, where they obtained both their Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and their Master's degree in Defence Studies. Dany also attended the Canadian Forces College, where they completed the Joint Command and Staff Programme. Dany is certified as a Professional Engineer by both the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta and PEO - Professional Engineers Ontario.
Dany Breton reports to Christopher Usih, Chief Superintendent. They work with Marla Martin-Esposito - Chief Communications Officer, Joanne Pitman - Superintendent of School Improvement, Areas 5, 6, 7 & Research & Strategy |, and Brad Grundy - Superintendent, Finance, Technology Services, CFO, Corporate Treasurer.
