Joel Suss is currently the Human Performance and Behaviour Research Lead at Calgary Police Service, a position held since March 2024. Prior to this role, Joel served as a Senior Human Factors Specialist at Rheinmetall from August 2022 to February 2024 and as an Associate Professor of Psychology at Wichita State University from August 2015 to December 2023, focusing on Human Factors in a Ph.D. program. Additional experience includes working as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Université Laval, where the focus was on cognitive solutions to surveillance and interdisciplinary approaches to security, and as a Human Factors Analyst at Spectrum Software Technology Inc. Joel holds a Ph.D. in Applied Cognitive Science and Human Factors from Michigan Technological University and has a background in cognitive psychology and human movement, with extensive education from various institutions including Deakin University and Florida State University.
