Zaid Amso has a diverse work experience with a focus on chemistry and biology. Zaid is currently serving as the Associate Director of Chemistry at Calibr at Scripps Research since July 2023. Prior to this role, they worked as a Sr. Scientist in Discovery Biology at Neurocrine Biosciences from January 2023 to July 2023. Zaid also held positions as a Sr. Scientist in Chemistry at RayzeBio from May 2021 to December 2022, as well as an Investigator in Chemical Biology and a Postdoctoral Associate in Peptide Chemistry at Calibr at Scripps Research from April 2018 to May 2021. Zaid has also been an Editorial Board Member for Endocrine and Metabolic Science at Elsevier from April 2021 to November 2022. Zaid's earlier experiences include working as a Research Scientist at Douglas Pharmaceuticals from April 2017 to March 2018 and as a Graduate Student and Graduate Teaching Assistant in Medicinal Chemistry at The University of Auckland from March 2013 to March 2017. Zaid began their professional career as a Retail Associate at Farmers Trading Company Ltd from February 2009 to May 2012.
Zaid Amso holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemistry from The University of Auckland, which was obtained from 2013 to 2017. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree with Honours in Chemistry from the same institution, spanning from 2011 to 2012. Before pursuing their Honours degree, Zaid received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biological Sciences and Chemistry from The University of Auckland from 2009 to 2011. In addition to their formal education, Zaid has acquired several certifications, including "Foundations of Raising Capital" and "Brad Feld on Raising Capital" from LinkedIn, "Statement of Accomplishment - Venture Deals Fall 2020" from Kauffman Fellows, "Certificate of Completion - Principles of Clinical Pharmacology," and "Certificate of Completion - Introduction to the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research" from The National Institutes of Health. Zaid also achieved First Class Honours in Chemistry from The University of Auckland in September 2012.
