Ioannis Kapranos

Ioannis Kapranos has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Ioannis currently serves as the CTO at Calibrant Energy since September 2021. Prior to this role, they were involved in the development and construction department at the same company from October 2020 to October 2021.

Before joining Calibrant Energy, Ioannis served as a Member of the Board of Advisors at PROTEAS starting in 2018.

From 2016 to 2020, they held various positions at Advanced Microgrid Solutions, including Vice President of Project Development, Sr. Director/Dr. - Project Development, and Regional Manager - Project Development. In these roles, Ioannis was responsible for project delivery, financial objectives, strategy planning, integration of new technologies, and standard operational frameworks/processes.

Prior to that, they worked at Bloom Energy from 2013 to 2016 as a Program Manager and Senior Project Manager/Project Manager in the Customer Installations Group. Ioannis managed nationwide portfolios, coordinated cross-functional teams, and led competitive bidding efforts.

In 2009, Ioannis co-founded ZEIS - Zone of Energy Innovative Systems, where they managed multiple PV/solar projects and supervised a team.

Ioannis also has previous experience as a Project Management/Partner at Sourciba Group, Aerospace Engineering Management at Airbus, and Process Planning Engineer at BMW Group.

Overall, Ioannis Kapranos has a strong background in project development and management, strategic planning, and renewable energy, with a focus on energy storage and solar PV assets.

Ioannis Kapranos has a Master of Science (MSc) in Control Systems from Imperial College London. Ioannis also completed the Financial Data Analysis for Leaders Program at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business. In addition, they obtained a degree in Business Negotiating with a focus on Leadership & Management from UC Berkeley Extension. Kapranos also holds additional certifications, including An Introduction to Operations Management from Coursera (by Prof. C. Terwiesch - Univ. of Pennsylvania), C-10 Electrical Contractor from the California Contractors State License Board, and Organizational Analysis from Coursera (by Prof. D.A. McFarland - Stanford University).
