John Jory (MSc, AIPG-CPG)

VP Nevada Geology at Calibre Mining Corp

John Jory has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of geology. John has held various roles in different companies throughout their career.

From 1987 to 1990, they worked as a Geologist at Alta Gold, where they managed drilling projects in the Robinson district and conducted gold and copper exploration.

From 1990 to 2005, they worked at Newmont Corporation, starting as a Project to Senior Geologist and later becoming a Regional Geologist. In these roles, they managed multiple gold projects, led geology teams, and was responsible for ore control, pit mapping, geological modeling, and resource drilling.

From 2005 to 2008, they worked as the Chief Geologist at Barrick Gold, where they managed 12 gold projects and was involved in reserve growth and near-mine exploration. John led a team of staff and was responsible for geological mapping, target compilation, resource drilling, and geological modeling.

From 2008 to 2015, they worked at Paladin Energy Ltd as an Exploration Manager/Principal Geologist. John managed uranium projects, led technical and property activities, and was involved in exploration, resource development, and drilling.

From 2016 to 2021, they worked as the Exploration Director at Oceana Gold, where they managed multiple gold projects and led a geology and drilling team. Their responsibilities included exploration, resource drilling, target generation, strategic planning, and collaboration with other teams.

In 2021, they joined Rio Tinto Mining and Exploration Limited as the GM Exploration for North America, where they were responsible for exploration activities in the region.

Most recently, they have been a Consulting Geologist for North American mining and exploration companies, focused on discovery, target generation, resource growth, mapping, modeling, and exploration efficiencies.

Currently, they hold the position of VP Nevada Geology at Calibre Mining Corp, where they are responsible for overseeing geology activities in Nevada.

John Jory holds a Master's degree in Mineral Exploration from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, London, which they obtained from 1982 to 1983. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Geology from the University of Southampton from 1979 to 1982. John completed their high school education at the United World College of Southeast Asia from 1975 to 1979, where they studied Mathematics, Geology, Geography, History, English, Physics, Ecology, Chemistry, and Spanish. In addition to their degrees, John also holds certifications as a First Responder from the American Red Cross, obtained in June 1991, and as an MS Mineral Exploration from Imperial College London, obtained in September 1983. John also obtained a BSc Geology certification from Southampton University, England in June 1982.
