Hilary Beggs

Hilary Beggs is the current Project Team Leader at Calico. Prior to this, they worked as the Program Team Leader at Calico Life Sciences LLC from January 2016 to June 2021. In this role, they were responsible for leading cross-functional teams for age-related pathway therapeutic development, with a focus on discovery research through early clinical development.

Beggs has a breadth of experience defining overall strategic vision and value proposition of programs in context of competitive landscape, intellectual property and overall portfolio. Hilary is a key driver of decision making through understanding of target biology mechanism of action, translational disease models, and small molecule and antibody development.

Beggs is the architect of integrated project plans with key deliverables, scenario planning, critical path interdependencies and risk mitigation strategies along with budget planning and requests, supported by Project Manager. Hilary is also responsible for generation of minimal preclinical package requirements, evaluation of multiple potential therapeutic indications for a single target, generation of target candidate profiles and target product profiles.

In addition, Beggs is the owner of program IP strategy and publication strategy in collaboration with BD and counsel. Hilary has extensive partnering experience managing business and academic collaborations as well as KOL/consultants (clinical, safety, research, MedChem) and CRO partners.

Beggs is a clear communicator accountable for governance presentations and program representation.

Dr. Hilary Beggs is a postdoctoral fellow in cellular signaling pathways at the University of California, San Francisco - School of Medicine. Hilary received their PhD in neurobiology and neuroscience from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and their bachelor's degree in biology from Washington and Lee University. Hilary also has a certification from PMI in project management.
