Neil Bhola is a seasoned scientist currently serving as Principal Scientist at Calico Life Sciences since August 2025. Prior engagement as Senior Principal Scientist at Zai Lab from March 2021 to August 2025 involved leading Biology and in vivo Pharmacology teams for precision medicine projects, developing critical cell-based assays and genetically modified cell lines. As Principal Scientist at IDEAYA Biosciences from March 2019 to March 2021, Neil led the Project Biology and Biomarker efforts for the IDE397 program while conducting RNA-Seq and Metabolomics studies. Earlier experiences include roles as Adjunct Assistant Professor and Senior Scientist at the University of California, San Francisco, focusing on drug resistance and immunotherapy in cancer models, as well as post-doctoral research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on TGF-beta signaling in breast cancer. Academic achievements include a PhD in Molecular Pharmacology from the University of Pittsburgh and a BSc in Molecular Biology from the Florida Institute of Technology.
