Rebecca F. Johnson

Director, Thriving California Initative at California Academy Of Sciences

Rebecca F. Johnson serves as the Director of the Thriving California Initiative and the Center for Biodiversity and Community Science at the California Academy of Sciences, with additional responsibilities as Co-Director of the Summer Systematics Institute, a National Science Foundation-funded program for undergraduate research internships. Johnson is also a Research Professor at San Francisco State University, where involvement includes advising graduate students in the Department of Biology. Previous roles include Rocky Shore Partnership Coordinator for a collaborative project between the California Academy of Sciences and the Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary, Rubenstein Fellow at the Encyclopedia of Life, and Lecturer at San Francisco State University. Academic credentials include a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, a Master's degree in Ecology and Systematic Biology from San Francisco State University, and a Bachelor's degree in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley.
