David Pai is a Supervising Deputy Attorney General with the California Department of Justice, serving since 2008 in the Land Use and Conservation Section of the Public Rights Division. In addition, David has been a Lecturer of Law at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law since August 2009, teaching Legal Writing and Research as well as Moot Court. David participated as a CORO Affordable Housing Leadership Network Fellow from January to May 2024, focusing on leadership skills related to housing and homelessness in the San Francisco Bay Area. Previously, David held positions as an Affirmative Leaders Fellow with the Public Rights Project, an Associate at the Law Offices of Sanford M. Cipinko, Brayton Purcell LLP, and Sedgwick, specializing in various aspects of civil and business litigation. David earned a JD from the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco in 2002 and a BA in Political Science from Boston University in 1996.
