Kit Eakle

Associate Professor at California Jazz Conservatory

Kit Eakle is an accomplished educator and versatile musician with extensive experience in music education and curriculum development. Since October 2014, Kit has served as an Associate Professor at the California Jazz Conservatory, preparing to teach "Bowed Strings in Jazz" starting January 2015. As the sole proprietor of MusicKit since April 2001, Kit engages in freelance jazz violin performance, educational publishing, and music instruction in public schools. With a background in educational consulting since 1993, Kit has developed materials for arts education across North America, including a role as Fine Arts Co-ordinator for the British Columbia Ministry of Education. Previous positions include Program Manager at the Kennedy Center and Music Teacher in the Reed Union School District. Kit holds an MFA in Music and Art Education from the University of Victoria and a BFA in Visual Art from the University of California, Davis.

California Jazz Conservatory

The California Jazz Conservatory is a private music school in Berkeley, California. It is the only independent music conservatory in the United States devoted solely to jazz and related styles of music. Located in the Downtown Berkeley Arts District, the CJC offers Associate’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Jazz Studies. The Conservatory also offers community education classes and workshops for instrumentalists and vocalists and precollege youth programs for beginning, intermediate and advanced musicians.
