Rachel Smiley

Rachel Smiley is an experienced library leader with a diverse background in library management and educational technologies. As the Director of the Pearson Library at California Lutheran University since July 2022, Rachel emphasizes inclusivity, equity, and collection development while overseeing all library functions. Previously, Rachel served as the Senior Director of the AMDA Libraries, where responsibilities included technical services, outreach, and instruction. Throughout Rachel's career, roles have included catalog librarian, project archivist, and various internships, demonstrating a commitment to research and innovation in the library and educational sectors. Rachel holds a Master of Library & Information Science from Pratt Institute, a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from California State University, Long Beach, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Scripps College.
