Sheila Johnston

Sheila Johnston is the current Vice President of Member Development and Communications at the California Pharmacists Association. Sheila has been in this role since May of 2021. Prior to their current position, Sheila was the Director of Communications at the Sacramento Metro Chamber from May of 2021 to May of 2022. Before their time at the Sacramento Metro Chamber, Sheila was the Senior Vice President of Business Operations at the California Pharmacists Association from December of 2018 to March of 2021.

In their role as Senior Vice President of Business Operations at CPhA, Sheila was responsible for annual revenue generation, recovering over 800 lost members, and sales through digital advertising, enhanced brand awareness, members-only events, effective copywriting and sales calls. Sheila managed three departments: Operations, Communications & Membership and five staff members while also auditing AMS database to close loopholes in membership recruitment and retention. Sheila was able to successfully pivoted membership growth and sales by enhancing data reporting strategies. In addition to these successes, they also oversaw the publication of the Journal of Contemporary Pharmacy Practice, identified and launched a "voice" for the Association to maximize engagement on social media platforms and for revenue generation, and conducted trainings for staff and membership.

Sheila's experience in both communications and business operations makes their the perfect candidate for their current role as Vice President of Member Development and Communications at CPhA. In this role, they are responsible for developing relationships with members, growing membership, and increasing engagement through communications initiatives

Sheila Johnston holds a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Administration from California State University-Sacramento and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from California State University, Stanislaus. Sheila also holds a certification from the Association Marketing Academy in Association Digital Marketing Certificate Course.

They are on a team with Ronnie Visitacion - Corporate Partnerships Development Manager, Shawna Fitzgerald - CFO, and Juliana Bokisch - Marketing & Communications Manager. Sheila Johnston reports to Susan Bonilla, CEO & Secretary.
