Gary Metzker is a seasoned academic and media professional with extensive experience in journalism and education. Since August 2009, Gary has served as a Lecturer at Chapman University, contributing to The Panther and its online presence. Concurrently, Gary has held the position of Professor at California State University, Long Beach, since 2008, where instruction focuses on Media Design and Introduction to Mass Communications, along with advisory roles for the Daily 49er newspaper. Previous roles include copy editor at the University of Southern California and a contract employee with the Los Angeles Times, where Gary taught staff about CCI NewsGate. Gary's career in journalism also spans over two decades at the Los Angeles Times, where significant roles included Senior Editor and Sports News Editor, along with positions at various other publications. Gary holds a Master’s degree in Communications from California State University, Fullerton and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
