Viola Lasmana currently serves as an Assistant Professor in Comparative World Literature at California State University, Long Beach, since 2024. Previously, Viola was a South and Southeast Asian American Studies Postdoctoral Associate at Rutgers University–New Brunswick from 2022 to June 2024 and held various fellowships, including the ACLS Emerging Voices Fellow and Faculty Fellow at the Rutgers Center for Historical Analysis in 2023-2024. Additionally, Viola participated as a Visiting Scholar at the NYU Asian/Pacific/American Institute and has contributed to various initiatives, including speaking engagements for Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month with organizations like Seward & Kissel LLP and Kering in May 2023. Violas's academic journey includes a PhD in English Language and Literature from the University of Southern California (2011-2018), along with an MA from San Francisco State University (2007-2010) and a BA from the University of San Francisco (2002-2004).
