Richard Spencer

Richard oversees the Institute of Education, including the initial teacher training and continuing professional development programmes. He also supports a number of CMAT secondary schools and chairs the trust 16-19 committee. From 2016-2020, Richard was Principal of Ely College, leading the school from Special Measures to an over-subscribed, 'Good' school with 'Outstanding' leadership and management. Richard trained as a teacher of English and Drama and has published several titles for the Cambridge School Shakespeare range. In 2015-16 he spent a year seconded to OFTSED's HMI team leading inspections across the East of England.
