Camden County College
Annette Castiglione has been a member of the Camden County College Board of Trustees since 2003. Mrs. Castiglione graduated from Canisius College in 1976 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education. She began her teaching career as a second-grade teacher in New York. After moving to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she taught Language Arts at a West Philadelphia high school. In 1981, she received her Master’s in Education from Temple University, with her certification as a Reading Specialist.
Ms. Castiglione chose to stay home to raise her three children until 1990. At this time, she returned to her career as an educator first as the Reading Specialist at the Mill Creek School in Philadelphia and then as a reading teacher at Camden High School. In 1999, she joined the fledgling staff of the newly opened Creative Arts High School as the Whole School Reform Facilitator and Reading Specialist. During her tenure there she earned her second Master’s in Education from Rowan University. The Master’s thesis Ms. Castiglione pursued at Rowan explored the Abbot rulings and their effect on education reform in the State of New Jersey. This served her well when she accepted a position at the Department of Education in 2002. She spent the next five years directing more than fifty program and fiscal staff members as they provided technical support to thirty-one Abbot Districts. Ms. Castiglione joined the Bellmawr Learning Community as its superintendent in April of 2007. She is dedicated to helping the community grow and build on its strong foundation of excellence for each student. Ms. Castiglione’s commitment to the families and students of Bellmawr has brought much needed change including the building of a new early childhood center.
