Gavin Thatcher has a rich work experience spanning several roles and companies. Gavin started as a Production Manager at Da Gama Textiles in 1987 and held that position until 2002. Gavin then joined Standfast & Barracks as a Production Director in 2002, staying there until 2016. In 2016, they became a Director at Technical Textiles for a year before becoming the Managing Director at Stead McAlpin from 2017 to 2018. Following that, they served as a Director of Operations at Camira Fabrics Limited, where they eventually became the Director of UK Operations. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Operations at Camira Fabrics Limited.

Gavin Thatcher holds a diverse education history that spans different fields of study. In 1987 to 1989, they attended Durban University of Technology/Natal Technicon, where they pursued a degree in Textile Technology with a focus on Textile Science. Gavin's earlier education includes attending Hillcrest High School, but the duration of this time is not specified. Moreover, they also attended the South African Infantry School from 1985 to 1986, where they pursued the Junior Leaders program, studying Infantry Leadership.
