CAMP4 is seeking a Head of IP attorney who will lead the IP function including the preparation, filing and litigation of patents, trademarks, copyrights, licenses, agreements, and other forms of intellectual property protections. This person is highly-collaborative, creative and self-starting and thrives in a dynamic & fast-paced environment. They are an experienced, hands-on professional ready to embrace the challenge of establishing an internal IP function.

Playing a key role in the organization, this individual will be providing IP counsel for multiple clinical and pre-clinical projects, business development, and other R&D related activities. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Advises and informs senior management of intellectual property protection matters. Ensures that legal issues and recommendations are communicated to clients.

  • Coordinates and manages communication with external IP counsel.

  • Providing intellectual property (IP) support for a variety of innovative projects within CAMP4’s Research and Development groups, including identifying potential patent opportunities, preparing, and prosecuting patent applications on a worldwide basis, monitoring competitor products and other related support.

  • Understanding complex technical concepts and technology and conducting IP analyses for pharmaceutical drug substances and drug products.

  • Performing landscape, patentability, and freedom-to-operate analyses.

  • Reviewing publications for IP opportunities.

  • Supporting proceedings in markets around the world, including Europe where direct participation in proceedings may be required.

  • Advising project teams and pre-clinical and clinical project teams.

  • Providing legal support for IP aspects of relevant business/transactional matters, including conducting IP due diligence in support of potential licensing or acquisition opportunities and IP Agreement support.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Juris Doctor

  • Registration to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office

  • Current member of MA State Bar

  • Effective communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to communicate with senior management, legal, and investor stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate across teams including R&D, clinical, and legal professionals

  • Experience in various intellectual property legal areas including patent drafting, licensing, trade secret, copyright

  • Strong analytical thinking

  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
