Mr. Hensley is an internationally recognized securities attorney who has represented major investment banks, central banks, securities exchanges and sovereign wealth funds in the US and major financial centers globally. As a partner and practice group head at Sidley Austin LLP, he led a group with lawyers in New York, Washington, Chicago, London, and Hong Kong. At JP Morgan, Mr. Hensley was Managing Director, Associate General Counsel and Head of Compliance with worldwide management responsibilities. While at JP Morgan, Mr. Hensley served on the board of what is now the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. Before joining JP Morgan, he held various senior securities regulatory positions in Washington.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hensley has held leadership positions with many charitable and not-for-profit organizations. He served on the board of the William and Mary Law School Foundation. Mr. Hensley is a Knight of the Order of St John, a British order under the patronage of King Charles III which provides health care in many nations. Mr. Hensley served on the board of the Order’s US priory. Mr. Hensley was president of the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem which provides health care and education to families in the Middle East. He is a member of the Dean’s Council at Washington National Cathedral. Mr. Hensley is interested in historic preservation and served on the Historic Alexandria Resources Commission and on the board of the Alexandria Historical Society. He also serves on the board of the Metropolitan Club Preservation Foundation.
Mr. Hensley received his law degree from the College of William and Mary and was admitted to the bar in New York, the District of Columbia and Virginia. He received his undergraduate degree in finance from the University of Illinois. He and his wife Adrienne live in Old Town Alexandria.
