Susan O'Brien is an experienced communications professional currently serving as Director of State Communications at the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and as a Board Member at Brendan Sailing. Previously, O'Brien held the position of Director of Communications for the Comptroller of Maryland, where responsibilities included acting as the primary spokesperson for a 1,100-person agency and managing a communications team. With a career spanning over 25 years, O'Brien has held various roles in public relations, government affairs, and fundraising, including positions with the City of Annapolis, Friends of Peter Franchot, O'Brien Public Relations, the University of Maryland University College, and the Health Facilities Association of Maryland. O'Brien started the career as a Media Representative for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Media Studies from Towson University.
