Kimbrea Cox has had a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. In their most recent position as the Director of Student Success Operations at Western Governors University, they are responsible for overseeing the operations related to student success. Prior to this, they worked as an Adjunct Instructor at Southern New Hampshire University. Kimbrea also served as a Senior Optimization Executive at CampusWorks, Inc., where they focused on optimizing operations. As the Chief Strategy and Innovations Officer at Arkansas Support Network, they played a key role in developing strategic plans and driving innovation. Earlier in their career, they held executive positions at Drury University and Union Institute & University, where they were responsible for enrollment management. Kimbrea also worked as the Senior Director of Admissions at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and held various enrollment positions at the University of Phoenix. Before transitioning to the education field, they gained experience as an Account Manager at Sprint Business Solutions.

Kimbrea Cox received a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, where they studied from 2005 to 2007. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Communication from Murray State University, where they attended from 1999 to 2003. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Nonprofit Leadership Center Management Essentials Online Connection from The Allstate Foundation in May 2022.
