James Keogh

Senior Actuary - ALM at Canada Life Reinsurance

James Keogh has a diverse work experience spanning over 15 years. James most recently worked as an IFRS 17 Project Actuary at Canada Life Reinsurance from June 2021 to the present. Prior to that, they took a paternity leave from December 2020 to May 2021.

Before joining Canada Life Reinsurance, James worked at SCOR as an Actuary - US Modelling and Reporting from June 2019 to November 2020. James also had a significant role at Aviva as a Brexit Modelling Actuary from January 2018 to May 2019. In this role, they were involved in ensuring the smooth transfer of business from Aviva UK to Aviva Ireland and played a crucial part in meeting internal, group, and regulatory responsibilities.

James'searly career included various roles at Aegon Ireland, where they worked for almost a decade. James started as an Actuarial Reporting Analyst in August 2010 and gradually progressed to become an ALM Supervisor. In these positions, James worked closely with teams from different departments and utilized their technical, analytical, and commercial skills to optimize Aegon Ireland's balance sheet.

James began their professional journey as an Actuarial Trainee at Capita Life & Pensions in February 2009. Prior to that, they gained experience as a Sales Assistant at Homebase House and Garden Centre from September 2006 to January 2009.

Throughout their career, James has demonstrated their abilities to handle complex projects, collaborate with various stakeholders, and adapt to fast-changing environments.

James Keogh completed their education with a BSc. degree in Financial and Actuarial Mathematics from Dublin City University, which they attended from 2006 to 2010. Prior to that, they obtained their Leaving Certificate from St. Mel's College Longford in 2006. In terms of additional certifications, they completed a course on R Programming from Coursera in November 2020.
