James O'Regan has a diverse work experience in the field of actuarial science. James is currently working as a Pricing Actuary - Structured Reinsurance at Canada Life Reinsurance since October 2022. Previously, they held the position of Pricing Actuary in Munich Re, where they worked on the New Zealand Portfolio from February 2022 to August 2022 and on Australian Superannuation from September 2020 to January 2022. Prior to that, they were a Group Pricing Actuary at MetLife Australia from January 2020 to July 2020. James also gained experience at MetLife as an Actuary and Trainee Actuary, where they handled various responsibilities related to Statutory Reporting, Risk Management, Assumption Setting, Financial Reporting, and IFRS results preparation from April 2018 to September 2019. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Credit Risk Analyst at permanent tsb and gained actuarial internship experience at Irish Life & Permanent. Additionally, they served as a Computer Programming Tutor at NUI Galway.
James O'Regan completed their education with a strong focus on actuarial science and mathematics. James began their educational journey at Knockbeg College, where they obtained their Leaving Certificate in 2008. James then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Mathematics and Economics at the University of Galway from 2008 to 2012. Following that, they enrolled at University College Dublin in 2012 and completed a Graduate Diploma in Actuarial Science in 2013. Their passion for actuarial work led him to further their expertise, and from 2014 to 2018, they pursued a Fellowship at The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
In addition to their educational qualifications, James O'Regan has obtained various certifications related to their field. James acquired a Fellowship from the Society of Actuaries in Ireland in July 2018, as well as a Fellowship from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the same month and year.
