Tessa Cornelissen

Lead, Health Economics at Canada's Drug Agency

Tessa Cornelissen has a diverse work experience spanning healthcare and health economics. Tessa currently works at CADTH since 2018, where they have held various positions such as Lead, Health Economics, Health Economist, Health Economics Research Officer, Health Economics Research Assistant, and Health Economics Intern. In these roles, Tessa has contributed to the development of economic models, conducted critical appraisals of economic evaluations, performed literature searches, and extracted data.

Prior to CADTH, Tessa worked at the University of Toronto as a Registered Nurse since 2012, providing comprehensive care to students. Tessa gained experience in triaging, immunization management, mental health support, and referrals.

Tessa also worked at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, where they served as a Team Lead in the Emergency Department from June 2016 to September 2017. In this role, they led a team of nurses and support staff, organized department needs, and liaised with other departments and organizations to ensure quality patient care. Tessa also worked as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, managing complex patients, evaluating symptoms and test results, and implementing nursing interventions.

Additionally, Tessa had a brief role as a Registered Nurse at Select Medical Connections from October to December 2016.

Tessa Cornelissen completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Global Health and Animal Physiology at the University of Toronto from 2006 to 2010. Following that, they pursued a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the same university, graduating in 2012. Tessa furthered their education at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, where they obtained their Master of Science degree in Public Health with a specialization in Health Economics from 2017 to 2018.
