John Hackett

John Hackett has extensive work experience in the aerospace industry. John worked as the Chief Scientist at Canadensys Aerospace Corporation from March 2015, where they led the scientific assessment and development of flight instruments. Prior to this, they owned 7 Iron Science from January 2013 to February 2015.

From 1985 to 2012, John held multiple technical positions at COM DEV Ltd. and eventually became a Staff Scientist. During this time, they worked on various space applications including Space Situational Awareness, Remote Sensing and Astronomy, Plasma Sensors, and Business Development and Public Outreach. John led the conceptual design and tradeoffs for a telescope payload on Sapphire LEO operational satellite and performed system analysis and budgets for assessing various factors. John also served as a technical lead and study manager for remote sensing and astronomy programs, leading the instrument development and generating system performance models. Furthermore, they played a key role in the design of charged particle sensor head for EFI as part of the European Space Agency's Swarm mission. Additionally, they generated proposals for space payloads, missions, and studies and presented corporate capabilities at Space Awareness gala on Parliament Hill Ottawa.
