Robert McCormack

Chief Medical Officer at Canadian Football League

Robert McCormack has extensive work experience in the field of sports medicine. Robert started their career in 1988 as a Professor in the UBC Department of Orthopaedics. In 1990, they joined the BC Lions Football Club as the Head Physician. Over the years, they have also served as an Orthopaedic Surgeon for various sports teams, including the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Curling Canada, and Softball Canada. In 2016, they became a member of the Pan Am Medical Commission at the PAN AM SPORTS FEDERATION. Recently, in 2020 and 2021, they were appointed as the Chief Medical Officer for the Canadian Football League and the Canadian Premier League, respectively. Additionally, they have provided their expertise as an Orthopaedic Surgeon for Varsity Athletics at Simon Fraser University and Trinity Western University.

Robert McCormack received their MD degree in Medicine from Queen's University from 1973 to 1979. Robert also obtained additional certifications, including a Diploma in Sport Medicine from the Canadian Academy of Sport & Exercise Medicine and an FRCSC from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
