Janet King serves as Chairperson of the Board of Directors for Polar Knowledge Canada and the NSERC PermafrostNet, as well as Vice Chair of the Board for Canadian Light Source Inc. With significant experience in public service, Janet King was the Associate Deputy Minister for Public Services and Procurement and President of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency, where leadership involved economic development initiatives in northern Canada and the establishment of a federal Centre of Excellence for Inuit Employment. Janet King also held the position of Assistant Deputy Minister at Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, focusing on resource and land management in northern territories. Educational credentials include a PhD and MSc in Geology/Earth Science from Queen's University and a BSc from the University of Toronto.
