Laura Steeves, P.Eng, M.S.Eng, currently serves as a Mid-Range Waste Planner at Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) since July 2019. In this role, Laura designs dump structures and haul networks, presents quarterly plans, and ensures compliance with geotechnical guidelines and tailings turnover dates. Prior experience at CNRL includes positions as a Weekly Mine Planner and various Engineer-in-Training roles, where Laura was involved in planning material movement, optimizing digging locations, and coordinating daily operations and waste placement plans. Laura's academic background includes a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Mining and Mineral Engineering from the University of Kentucky, supplemented by research and hands-on experience in the mining industry, including a summer internship at Teck Resources Limited and a research project focused on protective measures in underground coal mines.
