Ben Carroll has a diverse work experience in various roles related to project management and coastal science. Ben started their career as a Volunteer at the British Geological Survey in 2005, where they participated in the G-BASE Project. Ben then pursued a PhD at the University of Liverpool, focusing on sediment transport and morphological changes in the Mersey Estuary. Following their research, they joined ABP Marine Environmental Research Ltd as a Coastal Scientist, specializing in physical processes and morphological change in estuarine, coastal, and marine environments. In 2015, they transitioned to Marina Developments Ltd as a Project Manager, overseeing various projects until 2020. Currently, they hold the position of Principal Project Manager at Canal & River Trust, where they manage and leads projects.
Ben Carroll obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in the Department of Civil Engineering from the University of Liverpool from 2005 to 2010. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Ocean and Earth Sciences (Hons) from the same university from 2002 to 2005.
In addition to their academic achievements, Ben Carroll has obtained several certifications. Ben received the Project Management Qualification (PMQ) from the Association for Project Management in January 2018. In May 2014, they were awarded the Chartered Marine Scientist (CMarSci) and Chartered Scientist (CSci) designations from The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) and The Science Council, respectively. Furthermore, they hold a Marine Radio (VHF) Short Range Certificate from the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), which they acquired in December 2013, and a Powerboat Level 2 Certificate from the RYA, obtained in November 2013.
