Clay Schubiner is the current CTO and co-founder at Canal. Prior to this, they were an engineering manager at Canvas from June 2019 to February 2021. There, they led the backend engineering team. From July 2015 to June 2019, Schubiner worked as a senior software engineer at Airbnb. There, they did full-stack Ruby on Rails, Java, and Javascript development. Clay also worked on the Airbnb Plus team as a backend engineer, created the Google AMP version of Airbnb’s SEO/SEM landing page, and ran many conversion-increasing A/B tests.
Okta, Inc. employed Schubiner from June 2014 to September 2014 as a software engineer. During their time there, they created an automated testing framework which resulted in Okta's app count increasing by 93%. Schubiner interned as a software engineering intern at LinkedIn from June 2013 to September 2013 and as a mobile software intern at Millennial Media from June 2012 to September 2012.
Clay Schubiner attended Burlingame High School and then went on to Stanford University where they received their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
