Karolin Kroese has a diverse background in research management and community engagement. Karolin started their career in 2018 as a Community Engagement Officer at the University of Leicester. In 2019, they moved to the University of Birmingham, where they held the roles of Community Engagement and Involvement Manager for the NIHR Global Surgery Unit, and later as the Patient and Public Involvement Manager. In 2021, Karolin joined Cancer Research UK (CRUK) as the Strategy & Operations Lead for the International Alliance for Cancer Early Detection (ACED). Karolin also took on the role of Cancer Inequalities in Research Lead in 2022. Throughout their career, Karolin has demonstrated a strong commitment to engaging communities in research and driving strategic initiatives in the field of cancer early detection.

Karolin Kroese has an educational background in the field of biology and biochemistry. Karolin obtained their Bachelor of Science in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from the University of Düsseldorf in 2011. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science in Cancer Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Leicester from 2012 to 2013. Karolin then completed their Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry at the University of Leicester in 2018.
