Roddy McEwan has a diverse work experience in the brewing industry. Roddy is currently the Head of Technical and Innovation at C&C Group since 2018. Prior to that, they worked at Molson Coors as the Brewing Process Innovation Director from 2014 to 2017. Before that, they were a Brewing Consultant at SABMiller from 2012 to 2014 and a Liquid Development Manager at Brasseries Kronenbourg (Carlsberg Group) from 2009 to 2011. Roddy also served as a Pilot Plant Manager at Carlsberg Group from 2007 to 2009. Earlier in their career, they held various roles at Scottish and Newcastle, including Brewing Team Leader, Microbiology and Product Quality Team Leader, and Group Technical Standards Advisor, from 2002 to 2007. Roddy started their brewing career as a Laboratory Assistant and Trainee Brewer at Young & Co's Brewery in 2001.

Roddy McEwan's education history begins with their graduation from Fettes College in 1995, where they did not receive a specific degree. Moving forward, they attended the University of Dundee from 1995 to 1999, majoring in Microbiology. After that, they pursued an M.Sc. in Brewing and Distilling from Heriot-Watt University, completing the program from 1999 to 2000. Lastly, in 2004 to 2006, Roddy attended the Institute of Brewing and Distilling, where they obtained a Master Brewer degree, without specializing in any particular field of study.
