Job description

The Role

We are seeking a VP of Engineering who will play a pivotal role in our company's growth and success. This position is not just another job; it's an opportunity to lead a team of incredible product-minded engineers fixing one of the most broken industries in the world. As the VP of Engineering, you will grow and lead a high-functioning engineering team at a successful, fast-growing startup. You'll also partner with other executive leadership to solve problems as the company grows.

What Motivates You

  • You're highly motivated by the prospect of assembling and nurturing a high-performing team: identifying and recruiting top talent, fostering a collaborative environment, and developing team members skills and careers.
  • You see your purpose as helping each engineer reach their full potential.
  • You're excited by the challenge of setting clear goals, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring the team maximizes its impact every day.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and lead a world-class engineering team.
  • Technical Decision-making: Play a critical role in choosing architecture and driving the development of scalable, robust systems.
  • Involved Project Management: Embrace a hands-on approach to project management by actively involving yourself in both the detailed execution and overarching strategy of our engineering team.

Who You Are

  • You have 10+ years of experience in a Senior Engineering Leadership position, as a Director, Senior Director, or Vice President of Engineering, or CTO in startups.
  • You’ve successfully led multiple teams simultaneously, shipping high-quality features and you’ve managed and executed against ambitious roadmaps.
  • You have excellent technical acumen; you know the right architecture and patterns to build functional, durable, and maintainable products.
  • You have successfully interviewed, hired, and mentored both managers and individual contributors on engineering teams. You collaborate well with staffing partners and stakeholders through all phases of the hiring lifecycle and are a talent magnet.
  • You’re a clear and concise communicator; you enjoy the challenge of explaining complicated ideas in simple terms, both in-person and in writing.
