Michael Shaffer has a long and varied career in the public and private sectors. Michael's current position is as Director of Patient Advocacy at CANGET BIOTEKPHARMA, LLC, where they are responsible for forming the patient advocacy department and providing precision medicine advice to cancer patients. Michael has also provided editing assistance to the Chief Scientific Officer on government grant applications, scientific papers, briefings, and presentations.
From 2013-2019, they were self-employed as a Closed End Fund Specialist, personally building and managing a highly diversified multi-million dollar investment portfolio. From 1984-1992, they were a Special Duty Intelligence Officer/1635 with the United States Navy, and was assigned to the Naval Intelligence Command and the National Military Joint Intelligence Center. Michael also served in Operation Desert Shield and Operation El Dorado Canyon.
From 1980-1992, Michael was with the Naval Air Systems Command Headquarters as the Avionics Fighter/Airborne Early Warning Section Head, responsible for engineering design, development, integration, test, and evaluation of avionics architectures and systems for Navy and Marine Corps fighter, command and control, attack, combat assault, and anti-submarine warfare aircraft.
Finally, from 1987-1992, they were a General Engineer on a rotational assignment with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, analyzing, developing, and recommending policies relating to the use of new weapon systems technology.
Michael Shaffer has an extensive educational background. Michael obtained a Master of Science (MS) in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University, Industrial College of the Armed Forces in 2004. In 1985, they earned a MSEE in Biomedical Engineering from George Washington University, School of Engineering and Applied Science. Michael also earned a BSEE in Electronics Engineering and Computer Science from the same institution in 1980. In 1994, they received an Advanced Management Program Diploma from the National Defense University, Information Resources Management College. Michael also obtained a Program Management Course Diploma from the Defense Acquisition University, Defense Systems Management College in 1992. Additionally, they hold certifications from the General Services Administration, Congressional Legislation- Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA), Defense Intelligence Agency, and United States Government.
