Brenda Schafer Kennedy

Vice President Canine Health And Research at Canine Companions

Brenda Schafer Kennedy has extensive work experience in the field of veterinary medicine. Brenda Schafer began their career as a Veterinarian at Ross Valley Veterinary Hospital in February 2011 and served there until October 2014. Following that, Brenda joined Canine Companions for Independence as a Veterinarian in December 2014 and worked there until August 2016. Brenda Schafer then transitioned to Canine Companions® as the Director of Canine Health and Research in September 2016 and later advanced to the role of Vice President of Canine Health and Research in January 2021.

Brenda Schafer Kennedy has a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Cell Biology from Northwestern University which they obtained from 1984-1988. Brenda Schafer then went on to earn a Master's Degree in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1990-1993. Following that, they attended Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine where they obtained a DVM degree in Veterinary Medicine from 1994-1998. Lastly, Brenda attended the University of Washington from 2009-2010 to study Non-Profit Management.
