Tara Smith

Tara Smith is an experienced communications professional currently serving as the Senior Press Secretary and Interim Director of Communications at the Cannabis Control Commission since May 2021. Prior to this role, Tara held the position of Marketing and Communications Manager at the Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges from September 2019 to April 2021 and worked as the Communications Director for the Office of State Senator Patricia Jehlen at the Massachusetts State Senate from March 2015 to September 2019. Additional experience includes roles at ION Media Networks, the Town of Pawling, and the Peace Development Fund. Tara's foundational education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, complemented by early involvement in various leadership and tutoring capacities during college and high school.
