James Durbin is a highly experienced bioinformatics scientist with a diverse background in software development and research. Currently serving as a Staff Bioinformatics Scientist at Cantata Bio since January 2019, previously held the role of Senior Bioinformatics Scientist. James has significant experience at UCSC's Department of Biomolecular Engineering from August 2014 to June 2018, where work involved enhancing machine learning models for patient prognosis and drug sensitivity, and developing tools such as SamplePsychic. Prior experience includes roles at Oracle Labs focusing on novel clustering algorithms, and as a Lead Scientific Programmer at Baylor College of Medicine contributing to the NIH Human Genome Project. Educational credentials include a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University.
